Exercising while pregnant: Dos and Don’ts

Staying in shape when you’re expecting is important, because it can lead to a healthier pregnancy and delivery experience. Knowing which exercises are good for you and which aren’t is necessary to keep you and your baby safe.
According to our friends at Oh Baby! Fitness, there are several exercises that can be a pregnant woman’s best friend:
- Abdominal work on the lower abs and back is okay as long as you don’t do any weighted oblique work, twisting or bicycling.
- Rowing is good to combat upper back pain, while splinting can bring muscles together to prevent lower back pain.
- Wall sitting is one more simple exercise that will prepare you for labor.
These workouts are safe and easy, but be sure to avoid such activities as kickboxing and horseback riding when pregnant.
